Koo-Kal
This notice summarizes what personal information Koo-Kal collects and how we use it, as required by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). For full details, please read the Privacy Policy below.
Categories of personal information collected: identifiers (email, name, username), account credentials, calendar and scheduling content you create, connection and booking records you create, saved locations, and — when you grant permission — your device location.
Purposes: to operate the App, to authenticate you, to allow you to connect and share your schedule with other users, to send you booking-related notifications, to secure the App against fraud and abuse, and to comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Retention: we retain your information for as long as your account is active. See Section 6 for details on how to delete your account.
For your full privacy rights and our complete practices, see the Privacy Policy below.
This Privacy Policy explains how Gigz-Econ Inc ("Gigz-Econ," "we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use Koo-Kal, our mobile calendar and scheduling application (the "App").
Gigz-Econ Inc is a New York corporation with its principal office at 214 W 92nd St, Ste 6C, New York, NY 10025.
We collect only the information necessary to make Koo-Kal work. This section explains what we collect, when, and for what purpose.
When you create an account and use the App, you provide us with:
Account information: Your email address and a password used to sign in. Your password is securely hashed and stored by our authentication provider; it is never visible to Gigz-Econ.
Profile information: Your full name and a permanent username you choose at signup. Your name and username are publicly searchable within the App so that other users can find you and request to connect with you.
Calendar events: Events you create in the App, including titles, start and end times, and locations. Events are visible only to users you have connected with, based on the connection type you have chosen.
Connection requests and relationships: Records of your connections with other users, including the connection type and status.
Booking requests: Time slots you request to book with your connections, including any location and any optional message you supply.
Saved locations: Addresses you save to your personal address book (for example, home, office) for use when booking.
Device location: When you begin a booking request, the App may access your device's location, but only if you have granted "While Using App" location permission. This is used solely to calculate an estimated travel time using Apple's MapKit routing services. We do not send your device location to Gigz-Econ's servers, we do not store it, and we do not track your location continuously.
Push notification token: If you enable notifications, your device provides a push notification token so that the App can deliver booking-related alerts to you.
We do not collect: - Age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or other sensitive personal characteristics - Health, medical, or biometric information - Financial information, payment card numbers, or bank account details - Your contacts list, photos, camera, microphone, or browsing history - Advertising identifiers or behavioral tracking data - Data from third-party analytics services
We use the information we collect only for the purposes described below. We do not use your information for advertising, behavioral profiling, or any purpose not described in this Policy.
We use account and technical information to detect and prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, and violations of our Terms of Service.
We may use or retain your information as required to comply with applicable laws, respond to lawful requests from courts or government authorities, or enforce our Terms of Service.
We may use your email address to send service-related messages (for example, to confirm your registration, respond to a support request, or notify you of important changes to the App or this Privacy Policy). We do not send marketing emails.
We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not share your personal information with third parties for advertising, marketing, or behavioral profiling purposes.
We disclose your information only in the limited circumstances described below.
We rely on the following service providers to run Koo-Kal. These providers act on our behalf under contractual obligations that require them to protect your information and use it only for the services we hire them to perform.
Firebase (Google Cloud): Provides authentication (email/password sign-in) and database hosting for your calendar events, booking requests, connections, and saved locations. Firebase is a service of Google LLC and is subject to Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Apple, Inc.: Distributes the App through the App Store, provides map and routing services (MapKit) used to calculate estimated travel times, and delivers push notifications via Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) if you enable notifications. Apple's data practices are governed by Apple's privacy policy at apple.com/privacy.
Some information you provide is visible to other users of the App as described below.
Public search: Your full name and username are searchable by all users so they can request to connect with you.
Connections you have accepted see information based on the connection type you and they have chosen:
HELP connections (one-way): A user with HELP access to your calendar sees only your free/busy availability — never event titles, contents, or locations. HELP is a one-way relationship: the other user sees your availability so they can book time with you, but you do not see theirs.
FAM connections (two-way): A user with a FAM connection to you sees the full details of your calendar events, including titles, start and end times, and locations. FAM is a mutual connection: you see their event details, and they see yours.
Booking requests: When you send a booking request, the recipient can see the requested time, the location you supplied, and any optional message you included.
You control who you connect with. You may accept, deny, or block connection requests at any time in the App.
We may disclose your information when we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary to: - Comply with applicable law, court orders, or lawful government requests - Enforce this Privacy Policy or our Terms of Service - Protect the safety, rights, or property of Gigz-Econ, our users, or the public - Investigate, prevent, or address suspected fraud, security issues, or other misuse of the App
If Gigz-Econ Inc is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or a portion of its assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership and any material change in how your information is handled.
We may share your information for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time of collection or with your consent.
To be explicit about our commitments: - We do not sell your personal information. - We do not share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing companies. - We do not use your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. - We do not disclose your calendar contents, connection details, or booking history to anyone other than the parties described above.
We take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Our security practices include:
All communications between the App and our service providers are protected using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS).
Your data is stored on Google Cloud infrastructure (Firebase), which encrypts data at rest using industry-standard encryption algorithms.
Your password is never stored in a readable form. It is hashed using industry-standard one-way hashing before being stored, meaning even Gigz-Econ cannot see or recover your original password.
Only authenticated users can access their own account data. Access to another user's information is limited to what you have chosen to share with them through the App's connection features.
We rely on Firebase and Google Cloud's established security practices, including physical security of data centers, intrusion detection, and regular security patching.
While we work to protect your information, no method of transmission over the Internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and applicable regulators as required by law.
We retain the information you provide for as long as your Koo-Kal account is active. This allows the App to function — your calendar events, connections, and saved locations are available to you whenever you sign in.
You may delete your account at any time from within the App. To do so, open the App's Settings and tap "Delete My Account." You will be asked to confirm the deletion.
Once you confirm, we will permanently delete: - Your profile information (name and username). - Your calendar events. - Your saved locations. - Your connections with other users. - Your account credentials from our authentication service.
This deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
Even after you delete your account, some information may remain in the following limited circumstances:
Records held by other users: If another user accepted a booking request from you, the resulting event was added to that user's own calendar. That event is part of that user's records and remains on their account. The same applies to messages you sent to other users, which are part of those users' records.
Service provider backups: Our service providers may maintain internal backups or logs for standard operational and disaster-recovery purposes. Any such copies are managed under the service provider's data-retention practices, not by Gigz-Econ.
Legal or safety records: If we are required to retain specific information to comply with law, resolve disputes, or investigate abuse, we may keep only the minimum information necessary for that purpose.
If for any reason you cannot delete your account from within the App, you may email us at admin@gigzecon.com from the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within a reasonable time and no later than 30 days after we verify that the request comes from the account holder.
You have specific rights regarding your personal information. Some rights are available to all users of the App; others depend on where you live.
Regardless of where you live, you may:
Access your data: You can view most of your personal information directly within the App at any time by signing in. For information not visible in the App, you may request a copy by emailing admin@gigzecon.com.
Correct your data: You may update your name within the App. Your username is permanent and cannot be changed. If you believe other information we hold about you is inaccurate, you may email admin@gigzecon.com to request a correction.
Delete your data: You may delete your account and all associated information at any time from within the App (see Section 6).
Withdraw consent: Where we rely on your consent to process your information, you may withdraw that consent at any time by deleting your account.
Contact us with questions: You may reach us at admin@gigzecon.com with any privacy question or concern.
In addition to the rights above, if you are located in the EU, EEA, or UK, you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the UK GDPR:
Legal basis for processing: We process your personal information based on (i) the performance of our contract with you (to provide the App); (ii) our legitimate interests in operating and securing the App; (iii) your consent, where applicable (for example, location access); and (iv) compliance with legal obligations.
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act), California residents have the following rights:
Residents of certain other U.S. states (including but not limited to Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, and Delaware) may have similar rights under their respective state privacy laws. If you are a resident of one of these states, you may exercise applicable rights by contacting us at admin@gigzecon.com.
To exercise any of the rights above, email us at admin@gigzecon.com from the email address associated with your account. We will:
If we cannot fulfill a request (for example, because we cannot verify your identity or the request is manifestly unfounded), we will explain the reason in our response.
Koo-Kal is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If you are under 18, please do not use the App or provide any personal information to us.
If we discover that we have collected personal information from a user under 18, we will delete that information from our systems as soon as reasonably possible.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a user under 18 has provided personal information to us, please contact us at admin@gigzecon.com so that we can investigate and, if appropriate, delete the information.
Because Koo-Kal is a scheduling app that helps you plan around travel time, we may access your device's location in specific, limited circumstances. This section explains exactly when we access it, what we use it for, and how you can control it.
The App may access your device's location only when you begin a booking request with a connection. We do not access your location at any other time.
If you have not granted the App location permission, the App will still function — you can view and manage your calendar, connect with other users, and send booking requests. Only the estimated travel time feature will not be available.
Your location is used solely to calculate an estimated travel time to the location you are booking. This calculation uses Apple's MapKit routing services and happens in real time when you open the booking flow.
We do not: - Continuously track your location or your movements. - Store your location on Gigz-Econ's servers. - Share your location with any party other than Apple's MapKit for the routing calculation. - Use your location for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than travel-time calculation.
The App uses the "While Using App" location permission. This means the App can access your location only when you actively have the App open, and only when you have granted the permission.
We do not request or use the "Always" (background) location permission.
You can control the precision of the location shared with the App using the "Precise Location" toggle in your device's Settings for Koo-Kal. Approximate location is sufficient for the travel-time feature; precise location may improve the estimate but is not required.
You can grant, change, or revoke location permission at any time using your device's Settings app:
Revoking location permission does not affect your account or your existing calendar data. Only the travel-time estimation feature will be affected.
Gigz-Econ Inc is based in the United States. Our service providers (Firebase / Google Cloud and Apple) process data in the United States and other countries.
If you are located in the European Union, European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, please be aware that when you use the App, your personal information is transferred to and processed in the United States. The United States has different data protection laws than your home country, and those laws may provide less protection than the laws of your jurisdiction.
To protect your personal information during these transfers, we rely on the legal safeguards that our service providers have implemented. These may include:
Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, which contractually require the receiving party to protect personal information in accordance with EU standards.
The EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (and its UK and Swiss extensions), where our service providers are certified participants. This framework is an adequacy mechanism recognized by the European Commission for transfers of personal information from the EEA, UK, and Switzerland to certified U.S. organizations.
You may contact us at admin@gigzecon.com to request more information about the safeguards we use for international data transfers.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, our practices, applicable law, or for other operational reasons.
When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Policy. If the changes are material — meaning they meaningfully affect how we collect, use, share, or protect your personal information — we will provide additional notice, such as by prominently displaying a notice in the App or by emailing the address associated with your account, at least 30 days before the changes take effect (or a shorter period if required by law).
For changes that require your consent under applicable law, we will obtain your consent before the changes take effect.
Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any updated Privacy Policy constitutes your acceptance of that updated Policy. If you do not agree to the updated Policy, you may delete your account before the effective date.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about our privacy practices.
If you have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or our privacy practices, you may contact us at:
